Amy Duggar Urges Fans to Be “Compassionate” Amid Derick Dillard/Jazz Jennings Controversy
Go figure — the least
famous religious Duggar family member makes the most sense.
Amy Duggar King, cousin of the 19 Kids & Counting crew, has sounded off on the controversy surrounding her cousin-in-law Derick Dillard and his anti-trans tweets about Jazz Jennings.
Last week, Jill Duggar's husband came under fire for his second round of anti-LBGT remarks about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings, whose show focuses on her life as a trans teen.
“I pity Jazz, 4 those who take advantage of him in order 2 promote their agenda, including the parents who allow these kinds of decisions 2 be made by a child,” he tweeted (and deleted).
“It’s sad that ppl would use a juvenile this way. Again, nothing against him, just unfortunate what’s on tv these days."
As a result of his harsh tweets, the network essentially cut ties with the dad of two, saying in a statement that "Derick Dillard has not participated in Counting On for months and the network has no plans to feature him in the future."
Now Amy, who's been featured on Marriage Boot Camp in addition to her famous family's reality shows, is weighing in.
The newlywed is a devout Christian like her family, but has urged fans to have "compassion" towards others, even if you don't share the same beliefs or lifestyle.
You might not agree with someone or their lifestyle but you SHOULD be compassionate and show God's love regardless to everyone.AmyRking (@amyduggar) November 15, 2017
This message was undoubtedbly directed at Derick.
When a fan responded in agreement and said she'd wished Derick felt the same way, Amy shared her opinions about the LGBT community, saying she still "loves" her gay friend even if she doesn't agree with the homosexual lifestyle.
I have friends that are gay and I still love them as a person. Thank you for followingAmyRking (@amyduggar) November 15, 2017
Meanwhile, since Derick's "firing" from the TLC show, he's been trying to return to his missionary work, even starting up a GoFundMe page asking fans to help him raise $10K for his travels.
Wife Jill has stayed mum on the whole thing... but would you expect anything less?!
